The Sectors Based Scheme (SBS) allows UK based employers to recruit people from outside the EEA to fill certain specified posts within the following sectors:

• Food Manufacturing
• Food Processing

It should be noted that after the announcement of 31st October 2006, all other SBS sectors have been closed and only applications for Bulgarian or Romanian nationals will be accepted under this scheme for the Food Manufacturing or Food Processing sectors.

It is still possible to apply for an Extension or Change of Employment Application for an exisiting SBS permit holder and this will still be considered as normal.
